Not a word too many or too few. Where everyone´s coming from is made clear in an atmosphere, finally, of harsh beauty.

It feels like there´s not a word too many nor too few. Where everyone´s coming from is fully limned, austerely. This story´s got a harsh beauty.

I read this short story for the second time today and its impact is even greater. The writer's insight into us, characters which at all cost seek to be is outstanding. The dynamics of the narration will stay with you for sometime; it is hard to disentangle oneself.

Beautifully, written, very powerful and thought-provoking. Andrea, you are able, in a few short pages, to capture at the same time a moment in time and a lifetime. The imagery provokes every sense -- sight, touch, sound, taste, smell and vividly portrays the frustrations and difficulties of a character who, while she is actually deeply sensual, simply does not see the world like others do and is misunderstood because of her idiosynchracies. This is a story to be read by all those (and there are many) who are "different," and their loved ones. It sharply portrays the struggle for them to be "normal" and accepted. Excellent writing. WANT MORE!

I was not expecting this. Granted I am not sure what I was expecting. Having the belief the author is a learned and cultured woman, this topic caught me off guard. The word that pops into my mind is gritty.

I felt I was witnessing the storys scenario thru a window; sneaking a peek at someone elses life.

It was evident the base issue is based on obsessive compulisive concerns and all the drama, frustration, denial and acceptance that goes with it.

I got the full impact of all the above for all 3 characters.

Most impressive.

What a captivating and thought-provoking story... so well written, with very descriptive language. Andrea left me wondering and very emotional attached to this family. Thank you for your story, and I look forward to reading more of your talented words.

This is inded a powerful short story whose depiction of actions and characters is so very vivid that one naturally feels immersed and begins navigating in those naked truths, and the universality that underpins them. The narrative is intense, no coaxing necesssary; The richness of vocabulary quite admirable. The use of simils and metaphors is superb. An unforgettable delivery. I celebrate the author.

Andrea,
Don't know if you remember me from Maureen's class last year, but here I am, swept away by this wonderful, evocative story. It is a simply fabulous piece of writing. The pace, the suspense, the insight, the words and sentence structure, all of a lyricism that takes you up right into the heart of this family, and gives you a complete view of how these characters live together. Thank you for letting us know so we could enjoy this special piece of literature. Pamela Hull
