April is National Poetry Month and Ducts poetry editor Amy Lemmon will host these amazing poets:
Shanna Compton‘s books include Brink, For Girls & Others, Down Spooky, Gamers, and several chapbooks. A book-length speculative poem called The Hazard Cycle is forthcoming. Recent work can be found in the American Poetry Review, Brooklyn Rail, Court Green, Sink Review, Barn Owl Review, Laurel Review, and the Tender Buttons Press anthology Please Add to this List: Teaching Bernadette Mayer’s Sonnets & Experiments. She is the founder of the Bloof Books collective and works as a freelance writer/editor and book designer.
Poet, essayist, and fiction writer Sarah Francois holds an MFA in creative writing from Long Island University in Brooklyn and has been published in Downtown Brooklyn, visceral brooklyn, Brooklyn Paramount, PoeticDiversity, Vagabond City Lit, The Frisky, and Ducts. She has attended the Aspen Writers’ Conferences and studied with Jessica Hagedorn, Erin Belieu, and Barbara Henning.
Scott Hightower is the author of four books of poetry in the U.S. and Hontanares, a bilingual collection (Spanish-English) published by Devenir, Madrid. Tartessos, his second bilingual book, is forthcoming this spring from Devenir. Hightower’s awards include the 2004 Hayden Carruth Award and a Barnstone Translation Prize. When not teaching at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, he sojourns in Spain.
Katrinka Moore is the author of Numa, Thief, and This is Not a Story. Her next book, Wayfarers, will be published by Pelekinesis in 2018.
Rachel Rear is a teacher, writer, actor, and sometime aerialist living in Brooklyn, New York. She completed her MFA in Creative Writing at The New School, and her work has been published in the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, Crab Creek Review, Off The Coast Poetry Journal, Postcard Poems and Prose, and Forage Poetry Journal. Trumpet Fiction is a free, monthly literary reading series in Manhattan that runs from October through June. You can find us on the second Saturday of every month at KGB Bar (85 E 4th Street). The series was founded in 1999 by Jonathan Kravetz, who is also founder and former Editor-in-Chief of Ducts. No RSVPs necessary to attend—the series is free and open to the public.
