That’s right–TF will turn 19 years old officially in April 2018, but the kickoff of our new season begins on October 14! Experience one of the longest-running reading series in the city and listen to fiction excerpts from 3 authors you’ll want to get to know better:

ROBERTA ALLEN. A short story writer, novelist and memoirist, Roberta is the author of nine books. Her latest is the story collection The Princess of Herself (Pelekinesis Press). Over 300 of her stories have been published in such magazines as Conjunctions, Guernica, Bomb, The Brooklyn Rail and The Collagist, among many others. She is also a conceptual artist in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum. www.robertaallen.com

SOPHIE JAFF. A native of South Africa, Sophie Jaff is a Dramatist Guild Fellow and the author of LOVE IS RED; Book One in the Nightsong Trilogy (HarperCollins May 2015), which was favorably reviewed in the New York Times and has since been published in several languages. Her new book CROWN OF STARS; Book Two in the Nightsong Trilogy was published June 6th. She is currently working on a series of essays and two librettos involving murder and ‘objectum sexuality’ because that’s how she rolls. She lives in New York with her amazing husband and awesome toddler who will soon take over the world. And not a moment too soon.

KIRSTEN MAJOR was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and currently lives in New York City. She received an MFA from the Writing Program at Cornell University and has had essays and fiction published in No Tokens, Crannog, LitBreak, Entropy Magazine and BodegaMag.com, among others.

About the Author

Trumpet Fiction is a free, monthly literary reading series in Manhattan that runs from October through June. You can find us on the second Saturday of every month at KGB Bar (85 E 4th Street). The series was founded in 1999 by Jonathan Kravetz, who is also founder and former Editor-in-Chief of Ducts. No RSVPs necessary to attend—the series is free and open to the public.

Twice a year, we feature readers from Ducts magazine, while the remaining readings feature various authors and genres. Stay tuned to the Events page for information on upcoming readings and to see pictures from our past installments.
