I am intrigued at the reference about playing sonatas for Queen Victoria at Hatfield House in the 1890's. I believe the Queen only visited there twice. Once in 1844 and for one afternoon in 1887 when there was some music. If this a true recollection I would be interested to know more.

Roger was the best man at our wedding; my husband and I know this charming man very well.

I felt so sad for Roger when I read this story. And sorry for his mother and her kin too. They were truly handicapped in their inability to express affection for a child.

What a wonderful article. I'm sure the grandmother did not want her grandson to be a musician. The family loved the author of this article very much .
