Hey Coree. This is a bit random to be sending you a note here but I used to live behind you (28 Thompkins Ave.) in East Longmeadow. I was 9 in 1972 when my family (My dad Marv, mom Dina, sisters Jane and Kathy) moved to Arizona. You are an amazing writer and reading this completely took me back to my early childhood. I have such strong memories from back then and I remember your mom and dad being exactly how you described them. Really amazing! Although this took place a number of years after we moved I could completely envision being present as all of this took place. Anyway, I live in San Francisco and San Diego now and I think my email will show up here. I'm on Facebook (reluctantly) as well. It would be cool to hear what you are doing now and to find out about Anne and Shannon as well. I remember your mom Judy as being very nice and your dad Richard (Dick) as being pretty strict. Almost military like. He taught at Minnechaug right? It was nice to stumble upon this piece that you wrote and would be great to hear from you at some point. You have a very cool sense of humor. Take it easy! Rob

Coree, Celia told me about this site and because I am a fan of your past writing, I quickly read this piece. At first I got a kick out of your mentioning the "lumbering Kennedys" because I remember you alluding to them in one of the short stories in your book and I said to myself, "oh yeah, I remember them. Cool. This is gonna be funny". But this story is by no means funny. It's dark and sad. Of course, your writing is great though and I do enjoy your vivid descriptions and the imagery conjured up, especially by the Morelocks and you as the innocent blond slave.Your dad always struck me as someone eccentric but I never thought of him as mean. Up until now, you were just beatin' around the bush but that is what comes across big time in Sunshine Factory.
