Tommy, my movie was Bitter harvest with Anna Mangani. It took me fifty years to get the record that I was playing in mind all those years. I'll upload it to my multiply account if you want to share in the memories.

This story brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me of my wonderful Grandma. A great German lady married to an Irishman. She raised 9 kids (7 boys & 2 girls). They were the Byrnes of 80th St.
5 of hers son served in ww2. She was so proud of them. Thanks for the great stories & memories

Tom, this is only the second story of yours that I've read. The other was "The Boy in the Bullpen". I work for mutual fund company and, back in Sept., your friend Barry B. and I were having a conversation about Yankee Stadium. I mentioned to him I used to live in NJ and that when my daughter was about 10 years old, I started to take her to the Stadium. Barry told me about the article that you wrote on Aug. 24,2008 and I immediately found it and printed it out while he was still on the phone with me. As I read your story,it brought back alot of memories of my own childhood experiences of the Yankees and the times that I spent with my own Dad enjoying them.(By the way, I was born in 1955)Barry also mentioned that you are now sharing some of those same experiences with your own daughter. Although I now live in PA, I'll continue to watch online for your very entertaining and heartwarming stories.

Tom...This website did a fine page design of your Stoops to Nuts saga of how you strengthened your relationship with your grandmother when your mom was hospitalized. The photo of you with her in the wheelchair shows a smile that's natural -- not forced. I still can't get over that Bobby Kennedy photo with the tenements in the background.

Barry B. ("BB")

Terrific story Tommy. I especially love the part about taking yourself to the hospital. It's such a preposterous thing to do think any kid would do in this day and age. And of course, everyone loves to read about grams, funny how much we all love ours!
