In this final reading of Trumpet Fiction’s 20th anniversary season, you’ll hear selections from 4 writers of short fiction: Mary Cool, Chelsea Fonden, Janelle Greco, and Julie Wilkerson. Here’s more about your readers!

MARY COOL has been editor in chief of Ducts literary magazine and host of the Trumpet Fiction reading series since 2015. Her fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Storychord, Hogglepot, Barely South Review, and Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet. She lives with her husband, kids, and cats in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

CHELSEA FONDEN is a poet and flash fiction writer living in Brooklyn. Her work has been published in No, Dear Magazine, Breadcrumbs Magazine, I Want You To See This Before I Leave, The Electronic Encyclopedia of Experimental Literature, and Stylus. Chelsea co-founded and runs the Eclipsed Reading Series; has performed as part of the NYC Poetry Brothel; and was selected for a 2018 Poetry Society of New York Typewriter Project micro-residency. She has taught creative writing workshops and coordinated literary programming for NYC homeless shelters and after-school programs, and she has almost as many plants as she has feelings.

JANELLE GRECO is a writer and education director living in Brooklyn, although she often escapes to Long Island to be with family. Janelle’s work is forthcoming or has previously appeared in Hobart Magazine, Maudlin House, I Want You To See This Before I Leave Zine, Indicia, Gambling the Aisle, and Crab Fat Magazine. She is also an Assistant Fiction Editor at No Tokens Journal.

JULIE WILKERSON is the fiction editor of Ducts magazine and is a writer currently residing in Parlin, New Jersey. She has studied writing in New York and Paris. Her literary preferences include mystery, historical fiction, and all forms of speculative fiction. Her focus has primarily been on short fiction, but she is now hard at work on a young adult novel set in Paris.

About the Author

Trumpet Fiction is a free, monthly literary reading series in Manhattan that runs from October through June. You can find us on the second Saturday of every month at KGB Bar (85 E 4th Street). The series was founded in 1999 by Jonathan Kravetz, who is also founder and former Editor-in-Chief of Ducts. No RSVPs necessary to attend—the series is free and open to the public.

Twice a year, we feature readers from Ducts magazine, while the remaining readings feature various authors and genres. Stay tuned to the Events page for information on upcoming readings and to see pictures from our past installments.
